Diesel fuel near Crater Lake

We are heading off to Crater Lake tomorrow! My question is, are there places to fuel up with diesel nearby the park? Thanks!

RE: Who uses a synthetic oil in their truck?

Amsoil 15w-40 in the motor, 75w-115 in the diffs. I also run a FS-2500 bypass filter for the motor oil.

Sofa question

What can be done to improve our sleeper sofa? The first year, the cushions were fine. But now after a couple of years you kinda sink into the sofa. Can new cushions be bought or better yet denser foam? I dread the thought of shopping for a better sofa!

RE: Hot water heater question

Sounds like the tank thermostat is not working correctly. You should get this checked out asap.

Greasing bearings

How often should the bearings be greased? I generally will put a couple of shots about every other trip. I definitely do not want to over grease and create more problems.

RE: Hot Water Heater Question?

I have a 2005 Springdale TT. When I bought the TT the plumbing was winterized. The plug was removed from the hot water heater. Do you tighten the plug all the way down or just make it snug? Do you use teflon tape or plumbers putty or nothing? Thanks for all the help!!! I would flush out the tank then wrap some teflon tape around the plug threads. Snug it up tight and call it good.

RE: gas mileage?

I average 13 maybe 14 mpg with my 2004 Dodge Cummins towing a 31' Keystone. I try to keep the speed to around 60 mph and watch the tach. I have made a few mods to the truck help with the mpg. I am thinking about a wind deflector next.

I purchased a hosebuddy and it worked great! No more wild hose acting like a snake ready to strike!

RE: 55 mph National speed limit

I think that the US auto industry should build V12 14 litres PU trucks so that you can pull 75' FW and the gov't raise the speed limits to at least 95 mph and get the oil industry to pump all what's left of "YOUR" oil reserves. With those improvments, you will also make absolutely sure that there will be nothing left for the future generations. After all, they are only YOUR kids and grand kids. Who the f... cares about them ????
Spoken like a true liberal from a socialist country. Canada is by no means an example of how the rest of the world should live. You have been brained washed by the greenie wackos that you probably believe that ethanol is the answer for the energy crises.

RE: Jayco 23B Wheel bearings and seals ??

Go to one of the dealers and buy the bearings and seals. Wright down the numbers then take the items back for a refund. I love playing the dealers game!

RE: Anyone cancelling trips due to gas prices?

I'm glad we went to Yellowstone last summer. The trip would be out of the question this year. The plan is for shorter trips and trying to improve towing mileage. It is easy to blame Bush, but the Congress is controlled by democrats. Go figure!

Sewer hose weight

I was wondering what others had done about making some kind of weight to place on top of the hose 90 fitting. The weight would keep the fitting in place when dumping tanks. And yes I've done the rock, board, sons' foot as weights. Any home made designs that work great and are washable?

I had the new one installed over the old small one. No holes to worry about filling. Looks good, too!

RE: Favorite aftermarket accessories?

First has to be my electric tongue jack! Or at least my 16 year old son's. Maxx vent covers, and a good broom to clean the roof and slides before retracting.

RE: South Beach State Park

tubopilot51,
What are they charging per night these days ? We used to go to South Beach regularly years ago, Til they took away many of the best parking spots and put in Yurts.
BillI believe they charge about $18.00 per night. And yes, there are lots of yurts. We stayed in the "D" loop next to the beach side. It was great. A little cold at night but doable.

South Beach State Park

We just got back from a three day weekend at South Beach State Parking in Oregon. I must say this is one of the best parks we have stayed at. There are lots of spaces to choose from for those with big rigs. We had lots of choices for our 31' travel trailer. There was even limited TV reception with our antenna. The beach is close by and lots of places to ride the bikes. The only draw back is there are no sewer hookups, just water and power. A minor inconvenience for a great place to camp!

I made the Yellowstone and Teton pull last summer. My 31' trailer is close to 10,000 fully loaded. Just take it easy and enjoy the views!

Outside shower leak

While de-winterizing the rv today, I noticed a small leak from the outside shower. The leak is coming from the cold water knob around the valve stem. I don't see any way to tighten around the the stem. Any suggestions?

RE: towing through the mountains

Yes, you can get an exhaust brake for your 2006 Dodge. The dealership can install one or you can go with an after market unit such as Pacbrake.
